Oct 2015 President’s Message

Dear Colleagues,
Now that summer is over it seems the busy time starts up again… the Pharmacy class of 2019 has started their training and flu vaccination clinics are right around the corner. It has been a privilege to be the SPA President this year.

One of the things that I have noticed is the incredibly high quality of the pharmacists and technicians who I have been able to meet though my involvement with the Association. Continue reading “Oct 2015 President’s Message”

APhA Foundation Vaccination Grant

Pharmacies are needed to participate in a grant supported APhA Foundation Demonstration project. They are seeking commitment from 8 community pharmacies in Washington State to participate in a 6-month pilot project during the 2015-2016 influenza season. The practice sites must already have an established immunization program in place but be willing to test an innovative practice model in their immunization practice during the upcoming influenza season.

Grant funding will support access to the bi-directional immunization information system for each participating pharmacy and each pilot site will receive a community implementation grant for participating in the project.

The initiation of the pilot project is time-sensitive in order to implement the innovative practice model for the 2015-2016 influenza season. Practice sites must be able to work with the APhA Foundation to finalize a contract on or before August 15, 2015. A representative from the pharmacy must attend a one-day training session in late August/early September which will provide training and education about the project and review how the project will be implemented within the sites.

Please reach out to Kelly Brock (kellyabrock@gmail.com)  regarding additional questions about the study.
